LIBRARY TO HOST STAMP CAMP

The Norman Public Library will host a family Stamp Camp 1 to 4 p.m . Oct. 27 in the Children’s Area of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

The program, for ages 8 and up (so it includes adults as well), will include representatives from the Norman Stamp Club and the U.S. Postal Service’s Norman office. There will be free stamps provided for participants, as well as door prizes and refreshments.

The event is being presented in commemoration of National Stamp Collecting Month in October.

Norman Stamp Club representatives will be available to help any Girl Scout or Boy Scout earn a collecting badge or stamp collecting merit badge at the program. Stamp Club members will help anyone interested in stamp collecting learn how to begin or answer any questions more advanced collectors may have about the hobby. Club members will also help library customers learn how to evaluate their collections.

The Norman Stamp Club (http://normanokstampclub.blogspot.com/) has taken part in similar events at the library for years. The club meets the first Wednesday of each month at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman.

The Stamp Camp serves as the week’s Saturday KidsClub event. The Saturday KidsClub takes place most Saturday afternoons that the library is open, often bringing in speakers or programs from around the community and covering a variety of topics.

For more information on the Stamp Camp, Saturday KidsClub  or other activities and offerings at the Norman Public Library, call 701-2600 or go online to www.justsoyouknow.us/norman.
